A few facts worth noting ................
there are several million works of art on display in corporations around the world -- almost as many as are displayed in city art museums!
the value of all of the artworks housed and displayed in corporate offices is several billion dollars, and corporations spend millions every year purchasing art.
In fact, the most important patron of the arts during the past 50 years has been ............ not governments, or private collectors, or religions, or even museums, ........ but corporations!
Find out . . . . . . .
Which companies have art collections,
Which corporations have commissioned art ,
Which companies have planned art education programs,
What companies may need framing, restoration, or insurance policy reviews,
Which companies have sponsored art exhibitions or loaned their collections...
You can find answers in the International Directory of Corporate Art Collections.
Over 1300 corporate art programs included in the Combined Edition!
In publication since 1983, the International Directory of Corporate Art Collections is still the only comprehensive reference for corporate art collecting around the world.
We continue to add information to our website, and to revise the directory with new features, so take your time to look at the new information we've added.
Check the resources section for additional references. In the Editor's Choice section you can find a list of the 60 best collections in the US. In the Bibliography there is a brief list of other books and articles about corporate art collections. And please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
Note: The International Directory of Corporate Art Collections was originally published as a soft-bound book -- ISBN: 0-943488-00-1. It was published as the ARTnews International Directory of Corporate Art Collections between 1986 - 1994. In 1998 we began to produce the Directory on CD-ROM. If you would like a paper copy, you can order a spiral-bound printout of all of the information on the CD-ROM -- this is approximately 600 pages. Further information is available on the order form.

If you follow news of the business world, you've surely noticed how fast the corporate and business world changes -- which also means that corporate art collections change as well. When we published the directory in a printed book form, we found that during the two or three-year intervals between updates, there were extensive changes -- new collections appearing, some companies merging with others, some collections sold, and some companies disappearing completely.
Because the Directory is now published in a CD-ROM format, we are able to update and add new collections constantly without waiting for the publication of a new edition. We have eliminated the release of the Directory as a bi-annual publication of year-specific editions.
We check and update the information of about 75-100 collections every month and we add new collections or make corrections on existing listings whenever we become aware of changes. It is an ongoing process and takes approximately 18 months to 2 years to make a complete cycle, but there is never a point when the "job is done" because a corporation's strategy can change overnight! This updating process has made the directory a constantly growing and evolving project -- a living "work in progress."
Since the directory is an ongoing project and is constantly being added to and edited, every month, the latest versions of the Directory files will be uploaded onto the website in a protected location, so that subscribers will be able to access the newest version for a period of one year. When you order the directory and I send you the CD, I will enclose a password and user ID so that you can locate the latest version of the directory and copy the files onto your computer.
